To meet PECC's objective to promote economic cooperation and the idea of a Pacific Community the organization's governing body - the Standing Committee - establishes ad hoc task forces to undertake and promote research on issues it has decided need to be addressed by the regional community.
These task forces bring together thought-leaders from business, government, the research community and civil society to consider various options for the region's decision-makers. PECC's multistakeholder approach brings a wider range of views to bear on the pressing issues of the day.
For 2008-2009 four task forces have been established:
  • Regional Institutional Architecture
  • The Asia Pacific Education Market
  • International Labor Mobility in the Asia Pacific
  • The State of the Region Report
In addition to these signature projects, PECC's member committees also collaborate on a number of international projects:
  • Issues of water management in island territories, coastal regions and isolated communities
  • Financial Centers in the Asia-Pacific: Building Blocks or Stumbling Blocks
  • External Adjustments under Increasing Integration
  • The Policy Environment for the Development of SMEs Climate Change and Green Opportunities
PECC's member committees also undertake more domestically-oriented projects aimed at building understanding about the region amongst local stakeholders.
